Finn Fest 2010 ~ My Mummu & Me

Every other year in my mom's hometown of Naselle, WA the Finnish-American Folk Festival is held. I've been going to it ever since it began in 1982. This year's theme was called "My Mummu & Me" ~ Mummu is Grandma in Finnish. Its 3 days of great food, arts and crafts, historical films, old photographs, music and dancing. Its a great way to celebrate the heritage of this area ~ I just love it!
Brooks absolutely LOVED sticking his head in this cut-out and looking at everyone!
Brooks and his Mummu ~ he started calling her this during the weekend - so cute!
The Mummu & Me Parade during the opening ceremonies
The May-Pole dance - this is one of my favorite things to watch

It was a wonderful weekend spent with all our family!

July, where have you gone???

This month is flying by!! I can hardly believe its already halfway over. We have had a busy, but super fun month so far. I've just now had time to sit down and update our blog with our adventures over the past 2 weeks. Hoping that the rest of the summer doesn't go by so quickly - I will try to savor every moment!

Happy Birthday Mom!

We celebrated my mom's birthday by going out to dinner at the Fall's Terrace, then cake and presents back at the house. It was a lovely evening ~ I love you so much Mom!!!
Garrett and my mom toasting with Grey Goose Martinis
Checking out the Tumwater Falls with Grandma (someone actually went over the falls on a raft during dinner - not the smartest thing to do! But it was sure entertaining for all of us to watch!)
Angel Food Cake with Fresh Raspberry Frosting ~ this was one of my mom's favorite desserts that her Grandma Heldt used to make. I was more than happy to make it for her!

Lavender Festival

We had a wonderful "girls weekend + Brooks" at the Lavender Festival in Sequim this past weekend. There were street fairs, tons of vendors, lots of food, bands, and several farms to visit. It was such a blast!!

Fourth of July Weekend

We did a road trip to Yuba City, CA for the 4th of July weekend to see our good friends the Dokkens. We hadn't seen them in a few years, so it was really fun to catch up and have them meet Brooks! It was a fun-filled weekend of lots of time spent on the lake, playing outside, and seeing lots of friends.
Brooks going for a ride with Sarah
He LOVED playing with the hose - he watered these plants for a good 30 minutes
The introduction to Otter Pops has occurred...there's no going back now!
The neighbors have some mini horses, and came by for a visit. Oly was about the same height as this horse - she didn't know what to think!

Yuba City Cont.

This is the Dokken's ski lake - Liberty Lake. Its not very deep, so its always nice and warm. Brooks had a blast playing in it - he especially loved tossing sand all around.

Love this picture of Garrett and Brooks
With our good friend Judy - she had met Brooks back in March, and was super excited to see him again
Matt Dokken's band - Continuous Ending. They had a concert on Saturday - they are really good!
